Program Details

The USA BMX, the sanctioning body of bicycle motocross (BMX) racing in North America along with the USA BMX Foundation, is offering a first of its kind curriculum combining Science, Technology, Engineering and Math with a strong physical fitness element mixed with the right amount of fun.

THE BMX STEM PROGRAM 

This project-based program is student-centered, student-led, where instructors help facilitate the BMX STEM curriculum. Our eight (8) module curriculum is equal parts education and exercise, all centered around a bike. Flexible lesson plans are designed to be used in a variety of settings including school day, after school, as well as summer camps. 

Our curriculum aligns with state STEM standards, including NGSS, and incorporates a pre/post testing element that supports with outcome-based reporting.

ABOUT USA BMX AND USA BMX FOUNDATION 

The inclusion of BMX racing into the Olympic Games in 2008 has catapulted the popularity of the sport to new levels. Each year, USA BMX sanctions over 14,000 races at 320 BMX member tracks, serving tens of thousands of youth and families annually. The USA BMX Foundation, the non-profit arm of USA BMX, provides STEM and STEAM educational resources for youth and teaching professionals as well as college scholarships for USA BMX members and track volunteers. USA BMX STEM PROGRAM 

The program is offered through the USA BMX Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. This one-of-a-kind offering comes with a “kit” that has everything you need to provide the perfect enrichment program for boys and girls ages 8 to 14. 

EACH KIT INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:

• Complete curriculum providing eight (8) modules, filled with photos, step-by-step walk-throughs and outcomes 

• Five (5) Mongoose BMX bikes 

• Five (5) BMX safety helmets 

 Five (5) Bluetooth wireless cycling computers 

• One (1) bike stand for builds, repairs, and modifications 

• One (1) complete set of bike tools 

• One (1) bike pump with pressure gauge 

• Five (5) alternative tread tires (to be used on front tire in module #6) 

• Two (2) spare inner tubes 

• Each student receives a free One-Day Membership to USA BMX
